Charles Fowler the author of "Strong Arts Strong Schools" wrote this article within it, it argues that over achievement in education and the arts go hand in hand. He claims that if you are more involved with the arts you are more likely to do better in school because of the arts challenging you to think more. Fowler develops this claim by first exploring how the arts let kids think for themselves, with the arts there are no directions and no one telling you what you can and can not do. Secondly Fowler argues that the arts give kids more a sense of creativity and self discipline, but still express themselves how they chose. Lastly, Fowler proposes that the arts help kids to "find themselves" and discover their potential. Charles Fowler's purpose is to highlight the importance of the arts in a young persons life and to show that education and art do in fact go hand in hand.
